Police investigate fatal shooting at Bay and Parliament streets

Police reported that a 24-year-old man was fatally shot near Bay Street and Parliament Street around 2:30 a.m. on September 2, 2026. Their preliminary account described an argument followed by gunfire and a suspect fleeing in a vehicle. The investigation was continuing at the time of the report. Three fatal shootings investigated in less than 24 hours on New Providence

Our News reported that three men were killed in separate shootings on Soldier Road, Joe Farrington Road and Gladstone Road within less than 24 hours in August 2026. Police described the attacks but had not established a motive or said whether the killings were connected. The coverage does not identify the victims as tourists or implicate a tourism operator.

CBS reports possible-murder investigation into missing American sailor

CBS reported in June 2026 that investigators were examining an American sailor’s disappearance during a Bahamas trip as a possible murder. That did not establish a homicide. Associated Press coverage reported that her husband denied wrongdoing and was released without charges. Later July reporting described an ongoing search; no conviction is established here.

Former police investigations chief charged in bribery and theft case

ZNS reported in January 2025 that a former police investigations chief, an attorney and a sergeant were charged in a case involving alleged bribery and money from an armored-vehicle heist. The charges were allegations, not convictions. In an August 2026 ruling in the attorney’s case, the court rejected an application to halt the proceedings and allowed disputed recordings to be admitted. That procedural ruling is not a finding of guilt.
