Three fatal shootings investigated in less than 24 hours on New Providence

Our News reported that three men were killed in separate shootings on Soldier Road, Joe Farrington Road and Gladstone Road within less than 24 hours in August 2026. Woman killed by shark while paddleboarding near Nassau in 2023

ABC News reported that a 44-year-old Massachusetts visitor died after a shark attack while paddleboarding near Sandals Royal Bahamian in December 2023. Police said a lifeguard brought her ashore and CPR was attempted. The reporting includes the resort’s condolences and does not establish resort negligence.

U.S. travel advisory: increased caution, boating risks and beach safety

The U.S. State Department’s July 28, 2026 Bahamas advisory is Level 2: exercise increased caution because of crime. It warns about poorly regulated boating, reported sexual assaults by jet-ski operators, shark attacks and swimmers overestimating their abilities. It also restricts U.S. government employees from renting personal watercraft from independent operators on New Providence and Paradise Islands. This is country-level travel guidance, not a finding against a named business or a specific pig excursion.

Shark sighting prompted staff to clear swimmers from the water

A guest visiting Rose Island in June 2022 says they spotted a large shark and alerted staff, who immediately got everyone out of the water. The guest enjoyed the beach, lunch and other parts of the Sandy Toes excursion but felt uncomfortable swimming afterward. This is a reported sighting, not a shark attack on that guest. The review’s speculation connecting other attacks to the same operator is not established by this account.

Fatal shark attack during Green Cay snorkeling trip in September 2022

A visitor died after a shark attack while snorkeling near Green Cay on September 6, 2022. The Tribune identified the excursion operator as Seas the Day and reported that it temporarily stopped operating after the incident. The owner described crew rescue efforts, including bringing the visitor aboard. That historical suspension does not establish the business’s current status, and the report does not establish operator negligence. This was a different company and incident from Seas N’ Cays.
